Nomacorc releases closure with ‘lowest oxygen transfer rate’ # wine

Nomacorc has released a new closure, which it claims has the “lowest oxygen transfer rate commerically available”.

The Select 300 is designed specifically for wines that develop best with low oxygen exposure after bottling.

“Our newest product advances Nomacorc’s technical capabilities and helps winemakers consistently predict their wine development based on desired sensory profile, anticipated shelf life and other important considerations,” said Malcolm Thompson, global vice president of marketing and innovation.

Dr Stéphane Vidal, Nomacorc’s global director of oenology, added: “Our years of complex oxygen management research have provided clear and unchallengeable evidence that closure oxygen transfer rate and other variations in oxygen exposure during bottle storage do have a dramatic impact on wine development including aroma, taste and structure, and color.”

The Select 300 is the latest in the Select Series range of of co-extruded closures, which are designed to help with post-bottling oxygen management, wine preservation and development. It has an average oxygen transfer rate of 0.002 in air and comes in three lengths (38mm, 44mm and 47mm) with a 23mm diameter. It is on sale from this month.
