Come and share memorable moments at Simonsig during winter when this pioneering estate celebrates the 40th anniversary of its iconic Kaapse Vonkel, South Africa’s first Méthode Cap Classique made in the style of French champagne since 1971, with a series of jovial monthly wine, food and music evenings. Until August, this legendary Stellenbosch estate will take guests on a nostalgic journey to explore some of the many wine stories of the Malan family, sensational food and wine pairings and local music talent, guaranteed to chase the winter blues away. Simonsig’s next winter celebration takes place on the 25th of June when winemaker Hannes Meyer will host a Spanish Charcuterie & Estate Wine pairing followed by a wholesome three course dinner infused with authentic country folk and blues sounds by local musicians Gerald Clark and Sven Bloomer. http://www.Geraldclark.co.za.
The menu warms up with a roasted tomato soup with crème fraiche followed by lamb curry or chicken ballontine served with a red cherry glaze as your main, rounded off with a delectable vanilla pod Crème brûlée for dessert. This tasting and three course menu – masterly crafted by Executive Chef Shanel Gildenhuys, costs R270 per person and includes a complimentary glass of Kaapse Vonkel on arrival. The next events on Simonsig’s Winter Programme will take place on 16 July and 20 August. Our lineup of local talent includes Gerald Clack from Delta Blue and soulful gypsy jazz from The Limehouse Trio. The evenings will start at 7pm.
