LV for your #wine! Really

For one French wine house, when traveling with valuable, vintage wines there is no wrapping bottles in socks and sweaters, cushioning them with towels and nestling them in suitcases.

French wine house Cordier Mestrezat commissioned a Louis Vuitton carrying case for its wines.

For Cordier Mestrezat Grands Crus, prized wines travel in style, laid snugly in a custom-made Louis Vuitton carrying case that can house four bottles.

The specially commissioned wine travel case was showcased at Vinexpo, the world’s largest wine trade fair in Bordeaux this week, to mark the French winemaker’s 125th anniversary.

The bottles deemed worthy enough to travel first class were part of the Grands Crus Classés, four 2008 vintages of Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Chateau Margaux, Chateau Mouton Rothschild and Chateau Haut-Brion.

Only three of these cases will be made. No price was available.

The winemaker also offers a 4Box wine set that sells for between €100 to €25,000, where consumers can pick wines from its Epoque Collection, Club Elite and Grands Crus Classés wine labels.

For oenophiles with slightly smaller budgets, the VinniBagsuspends the bottle in an inflatable air cushion to isolate and immobilize the wine during transport. One VinniBag costs $28 and can be purchased on the US and EU website, where it retails for €25.

WineSkin, which protects the bottle in a bubble wrap bag, vinyl covering and adhesive seals is another option and has been written about by CNN, Appétit Magazine Singapore, and Fodor’s. The product is available in Singapore, England and the US and retails for $9.99 for a three-pack.

Vinexpo, running through June 23, gathers 50,000 trade visitors from 47 countries and is considered one of the most important wine fairs of the year
