The Barefoot No More sponsorship model is a simple one which allows companies to purchase and brand the ‘241’ flip-flops (‘get 2 pairs of school shoes – 4 – 1 pair of flip-flops’) with their logo and corporate colours, thereby creating a commercial platform to raise funds through creative sales and marketing strategies.
Steenberg Vineyards has commissioned 500 pairs of pink flip-flops to be branded, each with a single string of Swarovski crystals running across the bands, making it somewhat of a collector’s piece. These will retail at the cellar door for R375 a pair, and will make the perfect Christmas gift or beach accessory. In addition, this endeavour will raise awareness for Barefoot No More, which creates on-going job opportunities for local shoe producers through its campaign.
Hugely privileged environment
“This special venture is close to the hearts of our entire team – we live and work in a hugely privileged environment and it feels great to be able to give something back,” says sales and marketing manager for Steenberg Vineyards, Anetha Homan.
“We are excited about the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to one of the most important social issues facing our country. Many children overcome hardships to receive an education, even if it means walking miles barefoot to get to school. Through Barefoot No More and with the support of our customers, we aim to provide 1000 pairs of shoes to enable at least some children to take those vital steps towards a better education and eventually a better life.’
