Good Food and #Wine comes to Cape Town

The Good Food and Wine Show will be kicking off their scrumptious line-up in Cape Town, 24 to 27 May at the Cape Town Convention Centre.
Serving a host of the latest national and international food and wine trends, a huge celebrity chef line up and a feast of tasting experiences to temp everyone’s palette – It’s the perfect day out with family and friends and a celebration of food and wine all under one roof.

The Good Food and Wine Show is going to be turning up the heat with our biggest Show’s to date. Headlining the Show is Buddy Valastro, aka the Cake Boss and star of the smash hit reality show, The Cake Boss; winner of MasterChef America, Whitney Miller; Michelin Starred chef Goergio Locatelli; Reza Mahammad, who has just launched his new series, Reza, Spice Prince of India and celebrity chef Ariana Bundy. The Show is an affair for the whole family, with Mister Maker teaching kids how to be creative with arts and crafts.

The Chefs in Action Theatre, in association with Afrox Handigas and the Cape Grace, will allow the audience to get up close and personal with their favourite celebrity chef, as the watch their foodie hero’s creating the dishes that made them.

The MTN VIP Lounge will allow visitors on the VIP packages the opportunity to meet and mingle with their favourite celebs whilst enjoying complimentary drinks and canapés.

Get Fresh with BBC Hands on Workshops, in association with DSTV, Woolworths, Cape Grace Hotel and Elba, are conducted in small groups of 12, which allows for personal attention from celebrity chefs while preparing their personal recipes with the freshest, highest quality ingredients supplied by Woolworths. Tickets to participate include everything, from a kitted out workstation and apron to all the superb ingredients.

Another innovative attraction will be Dining in with Knorr, where visitors will get to sit at a huge, long table, headed up by experts on either side, who will demonstrate how to create the perfect party using Knorr’s Stockpot.

Foods from around the World hosted by Reza Mahammad, in association with Spekko Rice, Food Network, and DStv, will be focusing on different regional cuisine, visitors will be able to try dishes from around the globe, and learn how to prepare these dishes during the demonstrations, and book food tours to international destinations.

With more and more evidence indicating just how important our diets are in preventing a numbers of lifestyle diseases, the Good Food and Wine Show highlights that you are what you eat in the Wellbeing Theatre. Lead by industry specialists, advice will be given on how small changes in your diets can prevent and cure a number different illness in children and adults without the need of medication.

Still the most family-orientated, lifestyle event in South Africa, the entertainment, safety and education of children using fun and healthy food themes is still a high priority in our planning. This year, we have secured famed CBeebies star, Mister Maker, renowned for mesmerizing even the most unruly of little ones through art and craft making, resulting in creations you will actually want to keep!

The Artisan Food Market is not just another food market. This is the real thing where food artisans have the opportunity to take an interactive approach to their craft, join them as they show you how they have made sausage and bread making into a craft.

The Street Food Strip will make you change your option on street food being junk food. Here you will be able to buy fantastic, gourmet street food that incorporates all that is good, its food with a vibe.

Other exciting developments to the Show include a Lindt Chocolate Appreciation Theatre that has doubled in size; known for its delectable demonstrations and extremely generous giveaways is expected to sell out.

Who said that good wine was only for the older generation? From the Vine is for the under 35 and young at heart wine makers that are making waves in the South African wine industry.

Not to be outdone by the wine, a Fine Brandies Emporium and Whisky Village in association with Whisky Magazine, will allow connoisseurs to taste and purchase leading brands from around the world.
